Big Susitna River Valley Floatplane Flying

The first day of floatplane flying at Willow the ceilings were so low that we had to stay within the Big Susitna River Valley. The river is 313 miles long, the fifteenth longest river in the United States, from its source at the Susitna Glacier on Mount Hayes in the Alaska Range to the Cook Inlet's Knik Arm 24 miles from Anchorage. Its largest tributary is the Yentna River. We spent some time looking for moose in the wet meadows.
